Know your options All-on-4 vs All-on-6 vs All-on-X

You may have seen All-on-4 and All-on-6 advertised. They describe the same full-arch approach, named for the number of implants that support each arch. All-on-X simply means the number is chosen for your mouth, not for the ad.

All-on-4 uses four implants, with the back two often angled to make the most of the bone you have. For many patients with bone loss, that can reduce or avoid the need for grafting. All-on-6 adds two more implants, spreading chewing forces across more support, which can suit a larger jaw or a strong bite. Some cases call for five, seven or eight implants. Dr. Farzad decides the right number after a 3D scan of your jaw, based on bone volume, bite and the type of teeth you want.

What is the difference between All-on-4, All-on-6 and All-on-X?

All three replace a full arch of teeth on dental implants. The number tells you how many implants hold each arch: four for All-on-4 and six for All-on-6. All-on-X means Dr. Farzad selects the number, usually four to eight, based on your bone, bite and goals after a 3D scan.

How long does All-on-X treatment take?

Most patients leave with temporary teeth on the day the implants are placed. The implants then heal and bond with the jawbone, typically over three to six months, before your final teeth are attached. Cases that need extractions or bone grafting can take longer, and we map out your timeline at the consultation.

Is All-on-X surgery painful?

The procedure is performed with anesthetic and sedation options, so you'll be comfortable throughout. Most patients report far less discomfort afterward than they expected, with mild soreness for a few days that's easily managed. Will I leave without teeth while I heal?
