Restore gums without surgery Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation

A minimally invasive way to reverse gum recession — no scalpels, no sutures, results in one visit.

Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation in Encino

Receding gums can make your teeth look longer, leave roots sensitive, and put your long-term oral health at risk. Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation at Farzad Dental restores your natural gumline without scalpels, sutures or a long recovery — often in a single visit at our Encino office on Ventura Blvd.

Gum recession happens gradually, so it's easy to miss until teeth start looking longer or a sip of cold water makes you wince. As the gumline pulls back, it exposes the sensitive root surfaces that enamel normally protects, leaving teeth vulnerable to sensitivity, decay and further damage. At 16661 Ventura Blvd, Suite 815 in Encino (91436), Dr. Philip Farzad offers the Pinhole® technique as a comfortable, modern way to reverse that recession and protect your smile before small problems grow.

The Pinhole® approach is refreshingly gentle. Instead of cutting and stitching donor tissue like traditional gum grafting, Dr. Farzad makes a tiny entry point and carefully repositions your own existing gum tissue back over the exposed roots. There are no scalpels and no sutures, which means far less discomfort and a much shorter recovery than patients often expect. In most cases, the entire treatment is completed in one visit, and you'll see your restored gumline right away.

Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation can help if you're dealing with recession from brushing too hard or from gum disease, tooth sensitivity from exposed roots, an uneven gumline that affects how your smile looks, or roots that need protection from decay and further damage. Because it covers and shields those vulnerable root surfaces, the treatment does more than improve appearance — it supports the long-term health and stability of your teeth. Dr. Farzad will examine your gums, measure the recession and talk through your goals before recommending it.

Aftercare is refreshingly simple: keep up good hygiene, brush gently along the treated areas, and stay current with regular checkups so we can monitor your gum health over time. Most patients return to normal activities quickly and are thrilled to see a fuller, more even gumline in just one appointment, with no lengthy healing period to work around. If you've been putting off treatment because you feared a painful, drawn-out graft, this modern approach is worth a fresh look. Farzad Dental welcomes patients from Encino, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana and across the San Fernando Valley, and our Palmdale office brings the same gentle care to the Antelope Valley.

Good questions Pinhole® FAQs

Is the Pinhole® procedure painful?
Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is. Because there's no cutting or stitching, discomfort and swelling are typically much less than with traditional gum grafts. The area is fully numbed during treatment, and any minor soreness afterward usually settles within a day or two.
How long does recovery take?
Recovery is short — most patients return to normal activities the same day or the next. You'll be asked to brush gently around the treated areas for a little while, but there are no sutures to remove and no lengthy healing period at our Encino or Palmdale office.
How is this different from a traditional gum graft?
A traditional graft uses a scalpel to harvest and stitch in donor tissue, which means more discomfort and a longer recovery. The Pinhole® technique repositions your own existing gum tissue through a tiny opening — no scalpels, no sutures, and results you can see the same day.
Will my gum recession come back after treatment?
Results are designed to last, especially when you protect them. Brushing gently, avoiding aggressive scrubbing, and keeping up with regular checkups at Farzad Dental all help your restored gumline stay healthy. If underlying gum disease contributed to the recession, we'll treat that too.
Does insurance cover Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation?
Coverage depends on your plan, and some PPO policies help when treatment is medically necessary for recession. Our team will verify your benefits in advance and explain any out-of-pocket cost, and we offer CareCredit financing to keep treatment affordable.
